Where we work

Marketing customer financing for plumbing companies in Quebec

In Quebec, financing marketing for plumbers has to work in French first, respect RBQ licensing and sit comfortably with one of Canada's most active consumer-protection offices. Electric heating dominates, so the jobs and programs look different from the rest of the country.

Quebec is a distinct market for financing marketing. Advertising must lead in French, construction work for others requires an RBQ licence, and the Office de la protection du consommateur is an active, well-known authority. Heating is mostly electric, so the large plumbing jobs and the utility programs differ from Ontario or the Prairies. Done carefully, a clear payment option still helps Quebec homeowners commit to big jobs.

The market and the buyers

Montréal, Laval and Longueuil form the largest market, followed by Québec City, Gatineau, Sherbrooke, Lévis and Saguenay. Montréal's plexes and older rental stock bring a steady stream of large jobs: replacing aging supply and drain lines, sewer connections and water heaters across multiple units. Owners of these buildings weigh cost carefully and often decide with co-owners or family.

Gatineau sits across the river from Ottawa, so companies serving both need to check that their lender's program covers Quebec and Ontario customers, and that their French and English pages say the same thing.

Climate and seasonality

Quebec winters are cold and snowy with a long heating season, especially outside the St. Lawrence lowlands. Electricity was the primary heating energy for 70% of Quebec households in 2023, with natural gas at 5% and wood at 4% (Statistics Canada). Electric water heaters dominate replacement work, and spring thaw and heavy rain drive basement and backflow calls.

Language rules come first

Since the Bill 96 amendments, the Charter of the French Language expects French to dominate any commercial advertising, and a website or social feed aimed at Quebec customers has to exist in French. The OQLF's business pages are the official reference. For financing marketing that means your payment-options page, ads, quote inserts and follow-up messages all need French versions at least as complete as the English ones, and the lender's own disclosures must be available in French.

Programs relevant to financing marketing

As of October 2026, Hydro-Québec's LogisVert program offers grants on heat pumps, geothermal systems and some other measures. The province's Rénoclimat program changed on October 1, 2026, making the pre-retrofit evaluation optional and adding new caps alongside a flood-adaptation stream. The Chauffez vert program stopped accepting applications after March 31, 2026.

The Rénoclimat flood-adaptation stream may interest plumbers who install backwater valves and related protection, but confirm what it covers before mentioning it. Heat-pump programs belong on your pages only if you do that work.

How we'd approach Quebec

  1. Build French-first financing pages with English versions where you serve English-speaking customers.
  2. Confirm your lender's program, materials and disclosures are available in French and cover Quebec.
  3. Target plex owners in Montréal with search ads for multi-unit replacement work.
  4. Keep follow-up messages bilingual or French, depending on the customer's choice.
  5. Read our advertising guide for the national rules.

Multi-unit buildings and owners

Plex owners make decisions differently from single-family homeowners. They think about tenants, building-wide disruption and the cost spread over several units. Personal financing may or may not fit an investment property; that's for the lender's program to define. Your pages should say clearly which customers the program is intended for, using the lender's own description, so a landlord doesn't assume something the program doesn't offer.

Call, text or email to discuss your Quebec plans.

Frequently asked questions

Do my financing pages need to be in French?

For Quebec customers, yes. French must be clearly predominant in commercial advertising, and websites aimed at Quebec customers must be available in French. Ask your lender for French versions of its materials too.

Who should Quebec customers contact about a credit contract?

The lender first. The Office de la protection du consommateur is the provincial consumer authority; we link it for reference and don't give legal advice on Quebec consumer law.

Can you write the French content?

We plan the structure and messaging and work with French-language copy that you or a qualified translator approve. Accuracy matters more than speed on financing pages.
