Marketing customer financing for plumbing companies in British Columbia

In BC, high home values and older metro housing make large plumbing jobs common, while the Interior and North bring colder, harder winters. A financing offer helps on both, but it has to sit alongside honest pricing and the province's rebate programs.

Written by Ali Sedighi, MBALast updated:

British Columbia gives plumbing companies two very different markets. Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and southern Vancouver Island have high home values, a lot of older housing and strong demand for repiping, water service and renovation plumbing. The Interior and the North have smaller populations but harsher winters, which push water heater, boiler and frozen-line work into short, intense peaks. In both, a well-presented payment option from a licensed lender can turn a stalled quote into a booked job.

The market and the buyers

In the Lower Mainland, a homeowner facing a five-figure repipe often has the equity but not the cash on hand, and a strata or landlord may be involved in the decision. These are slow, considered purchases. Cities like Surrey, Burnaby, Richmond and Coquitlam each have their own mix of detached homes, townhouses and older rentals, and your service-area pages should reflect that rather than lumping everything into "Vancouver".

In Kelowna, Kamloops and Prince George, buyers are more likely to call when something breaks in winter. They need fast service and a clear answer about how to pay for an unplanned replacement. Financing messaging there belongs on your emergency-to-replacement pages, not only on renovation pages.

Climate and seasonality

The province's climate swings from mild, rainy winters on the southwest coast to long, cold heating seasons inland and in the north. For a plumbing company that means two calendars. On the coast, plan financing campaigns around renovation season and rainy-season drainage problems. Inland, have your water heater and boiler pages ready before the first deep freeze, with the payment option clearly stated.

Heating also tells you who your customers are. Statistics Canada data for 2023 shows natural gas as the primary heating energy in 42% of BC households and electricity in 36% (Table 38-10-0286-01), so gas water heaters and hydronic systems remain a large share of replacement work.

Regulators to know

We link these for reference only; we don't give compliance advice.

  • Technical Safety BC licenses gas and electrical contractors and oversees boilers and pressure vessels.
  • SkilledTradesBC runs Skilled Trades Certification, which now applies to trades such as gasfitters and steamfitter/pipefitters.
  • Consumer Protection BC is the provincial consumer office customers may contact about home-service contracts.
  • WorkSafeBC covers workplace safety and compensation.

Programs that can sit beside a financing offer

For income-qualified households, the CleanBC Better Homes Energy Savings Program still lists heat pump water heaters among its rebates, as of October 2026. New requirements apply to invoices dated on or after July 6, 2026, and some rebates were removed, so confirm details with the program before you mention it. BC also signed a federal Canada Greener Homes Affordability Program agreement on June 29, 2026, delivered through BC Hydro and FortisBC, according to the federal backgrounder.

A rebate and a lender's payment option answer different questions: "how much less will this cost?" and "how do I spread out what's left?" Presenting both, accurately, on a water heater page is often more persuasive than either alone.

How we'd approach BC

  1. Split campaigns by region: Lower Mainland and Island for planned jobs, Interior and North for winter replacements.
  2. Build job-specific pages for repiping, water service lines and water heaters, each with a short, lender-approved financing note.
  3. Run search ads for financeable jobs with tight geography, because Metro Vancouver clicks cost more.
  4. Set up quote follow-up, since strata and landlord decisions take time.
  5. Measure close rates on large quotes before and after.

Strata and rental buildings

A large share of Lower Mainland housing is strata or rental. For a repipe in a strata building, the decision maker is a council or property manager, not a homeowner, and personal financing programs usually won't fit. Keep the financing message on pages for detached and townhouse owners, and write separate pages for strata work that talk about scheduling, notices and building-wide planning instead.

We're headquartered in Vancouver, so BC is home ground. See our pricing or call, text or email to talk about your service area.

Frequently asked questions

Can I mention CleanBC rebates next to my financing offer?

Yes, if the rebate applies to the job and you link the official page with a date. Since some rebates changed for invoices dated on or after July 6, 2026, check the current rules before advertising them.

Do gas water heater installs need anything special in BC?

Technical Safety BC licenses gas contractors. Your marketing should never imply you can do gas work unless your company holds the right licence.

Is Vancouver too competitive for financing ads?

Search costs are higher in Metro Vancouver, which is exactly why ads for large, planned jobs need tight targeting and a page that explains payment options.
